The Lady Doth Protest Too Much

"That wasn't the news," says Connie Morris, one of three right-wing biblical literalists on the State Board of Education who presided over the hearings last week. Morris thinks the media focused far too much on the intelligent design witnesses' failure to read the science standards committee majority draft and not enough on their criticisms of evolution.

OK, so not every witness read every part of the standards.

    That's bad enough.

But this person, Connie Morris, doesn't think SHE should have to read it? Nor Kathy Martin?

I mean, really, it's bad enough they're not equipped by life experience or training to sit in judgment on the science standards.

But to not even TRY to understand? Stooopid.

As former elementary teachers, they should know that technical reading is a FAR different task than reading their latest bodice-ripping Harlequin romance novel.

For crying out loud, these women made a big deal during their campaigns about their teaching experience.

They should be flunked out of office.

Too little in the way of real information was discussed, but there was more than enough malfeasance by elected officials on display.

If Abrams had wanted to put up a stronger showing, he would have had Calvert prep everyone on the issues they said they were going to discuss.

Failing that, he could have found other KSBE allies who could read. Morris' public denial (when she returned home to her "happy" place) reveals as much, if not more, about her contempt for education: in her own life, as well as in everyone else's.
