JCCC Board of Trustees
Incumbents Lynn Mitchelson and Jon Stewart will be joined by newcomer Don Weiss on the Johnson County Community College Board of Trustees.
Many readers will remember that Don Weiss, a moderate Democrat, unsuccessfully challenged right-wing fundamentalist John Bacon for a seat on the state school board.
The election of Weiss, Stewart, and Mitchelson insures that conservatives do not take over the JCCC board.
“I think I had a message that resounded with the voters, of moderation, of wanting more openness and transparency on the board,” Weiss told the Kansas City Star.
