Then and Now

The Lovings, an inter-racial couple married in 1958 in Washington, D.C., were found guilty of violating Virginia's "Racial Integrity Act of 1924," a state law banning marriage between whites and non-whites.)

“It’s a natural institution. It’s not a political one. It’s not a social one.”
While it has become political, he said, it’s about truth first.“It’s like somebody saying, ‘Let’s create a law to say the sun can’t shine,’” he said. “A law doesn’t negate what God put into nature.”
