Kansas vs. Darwin

Randy Olson's film, Flock of Dodos: the Evolution -- Intelligent Design Circus is being screened at the Tribeca Film Festival and getting very favorable nationwide media coverage.

Now a new film, Kansas vs. Darwin: A Documentary About the Kansas Evolution Hearings by Jeff Tamblyn, Jeff Peak, and Mark von Schlemmer is about to be released.

Tamblyn, Peak, and van Schlemmer have applied to exhibit the feature-length documentary at the Telluride and Toronto film festivals, two of the industry's most prestigious events.

The film has also been entered into DocuWeek, sponsored by the International Documentary Association. DocuWeek exhibits documentary films theatrically to assist with annual award criteria. DocuWeek will showcase the films Aug. 18 - 24 at the ArcLight Theatre in Hollywood.

Kansas vs. Darwin promises to take viewers inside the hearings to meet the characters who captured the world's attention: school board members who believe their literal interpretation of the Bible trumps modern scientific evidence, and members of the Intelligent Design Network who believe mainstream science is conspiring to suppress evidence that would overturn evolution.

Filmgoers also go face to face with an organization of Kansas scientists, educators, and citizens that organizes a worldwide response to put an end to what they see as a religiously-motivated kangaroo court.
