Blaming the Victim

Okay, here's how it works.

If you're a creationist, say Forrest Mims for example, you post on the Internet a slanderous account of a well-received speech on the potential dangers of the population explosion by a respected scientist. You accuse him of being an eco-terrorist who plans to wipe out 90 percent of the human race with a variant of the Ebola virus.

Then you have the wingnut echo chamber pick up the charge and flog it relentlessly. One of your colleagues is so full of himself that he actually calls the Department of Homeland Security to report the hapless victim of your slander as a terrorist threat.

The FBI, utterly uninterested in the evidence that real terrorists were taking flight training in order to fly jetliners into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, jumps on this one and announces that they will interview the professor suspect.

When others object to your actions, and circulate a petition in opposition to you slander, what do you do? Why you threaten to sue them, of course. At least that's what Forrest Mims has done.
