What's the Downside, Again?

Kansas school board member Kathy Martin wants schools that do not offer nine weeks of instruction on "abstinence until marriage" at least once in grades six through nine to lose their state accreditation.

"This would be one way to put a little teeth into what we would like them to do as far as instructing students," says Martin.

So tell us again, what's the downside of losing state accreditation? Seems more like a badge of honor, to us. Perhaps colleges and university admissions officers should check to see that Kansas applicants have graduated from a district that has given up its state accreditation before granting admission.
