Take Back Kansas Forum Scheduled for Manhattan

The Flint Hills chapter of Parents, Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gays and the Kansas Equality Coalition of the Flint Hills announced today that they will co-sponsor a "Take Back Kansas" Forum, Sunday 5 March from 5:30 to 7:00 pm, at Rusty's Next Door, 1215 Moro Street in Aggieville, Manhattan.

The purpose of the forum is to bring together and promote cooperation among progressive and moderate groups in the area; to provide an opportunity for area citizens to be informed about local and state-wide efforts to build more moderate state and local governments; and, to provide opportunities for local citizens to volunteer. The forum follows a similar rally held last month in Lawrence.

Featured speakers include: Sue Gamble, moderate member of the Kansas State Board of Education, who will give the opening talk: "Take Back Kansas: How We Can Move Kansas Back to the Middle, and Why It Matters;" Dick Morrissey of the Kansas Alliance for Education; Cathy Cook, Kansas Families United for Public Education; Boo Tyson, Mainstream Coalition; John Exdell, Manhattan Alliance for Peace and Justice; and Christopher E. Renner, KECFH. Invited Guests include: Sen. Roger Reitz, Rep. Sydney Carlin, Rep. Tom Hawk, and Rep. Barbara Craft.
