The New, New Nativism

So you thought it was all about evolution, didn't you? Sure, you were aware that the Big Bang, the age of the earth, maybe even U.S. History might be drawn into the culture wars at some time in the future.

Well, the future is now, and the battle lines are widening.

High school students studying for an International Baccalaureate diploma study subjects from six groups: language, individuals and societies, math and computer science, the arts, experimental sciences and a second language. The core of the curriculum is a 4,000 word-essay, a theory of knowledge class and a community service requirement, according to Jennifer Yates of the Associated Press.

What you didn't know until now, is that a curriculum promoting multicultural themes, also promotes values that are in conflict with traditional Judeo-Christian values. Some opponents, we'll leave you to guess who, have called it Marxist because the International Baccalaureate Organization is a signatory to the Earth Charter, a collection of global principles created in France in 2000.

Nativism, like Know-nothingism, is now.
