ID a Non-issue in Napa Valley

"Despite the controversy over Intelligent Design among school boards across the nation, Napa Valley Unified School District officials and biology teachers say that it is not an issue...

"I think for all practical purposes we're taking our cue from the state," said Napa Valley Unified School District Superintendent John Glaser. "It's a non-issue, our curriculum is defined by law."

According to California Education Code, school boards have the responsibility to create course content that satisfies both state requirements and academic standards. More specifically, the California State Board of Education clearly outlines that students are to learn Charles Darwin's theory of evolution.

From an article in the Napa Valley Register by Cristina de Leon-Menjivar.
