Turf Battle
The University of Kansas Natural History Museum in Lawrence will open "Explore Evolution" a major, two-year exhibit designed to teach visitors about the biological history of our planet, Nov. 1.
But, this is Kansas, and not everyone is happy to see cutting edge science come into the state.
"Why is it necessary to proselytize evolution?" asks John Calvert, a leader of the Intelligent Design Network and the effort to introduce pseudoscience in Kansas public schools.
Turf conscious born-again evangelicals, it seems, are so used to having exclusive rights to proselytize in their churches and religious schools, they've come to think they own the conversion franchise.
