Gov. Sebelius on Bob Corkins
Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius:
"I wish Bob Corkins well as he embarks on what will undoubtedly be a challenging assignment for him. But, I offer these wishes with a strong note of caution on behalf of parents, teachers, students, and the Kansas business community -- all of whom believe so strongly in our public schools. In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, America learned many lessons. One of the most important is: Government officials heading important agencies must have the proper experience and background to handle the task at hand. In light of their deep commitment to our schools, the people of Kansas will likely hold Bob Corkins to a very high standard, given his unfortunate lack of background and experience in public education."
