Harriet, taken from her home on the Galapagos Islands by Charles Darwin, may be the last creature on earth to have set eyes on the great English naturalist. Hatched in 1830, Harriet and two other tortoises were collected by Darwin and taken to England aboard his ship, the HMS Beagle, five years later.
Because of the cold weather in England, the tortoises were later relocated to Australia.
