Utah Gov. Would Keep ID Out of Science Class

The Provo (Utah) Daily Herald, published an editorial Saturday backing Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman's suggestion on how to end the intelligent design debate in that state. Hunt favors allowing discussion of ID in sociology or philosophy classes, but teaching evolution in science classes.

Utah state Sen. D. Chris Buttars has been pushing to teach ID in science class.

"While there is some merit to discussing intelligent design in a philosophical or theological context," writes the editorial board of the Daily Herald, "it does not belong in a science class. It is based on nothing but conjecture and boasts no empirical evidence in favor of the supernatural."
