Dover Board Resignation

Dover area school board member and intelligent design activist Bill Buckingham submitted his resignation to the board Monday. Buckingham, who was the moving force behind the board's decision to include intelligent design in the curriculum, cited poor health and problems with the pain medication Oxycontin.

Since Buckingham's resignation came before a Sept. 8 deadline, voters will elect his replacement in the November election. The board will interview a temporary replacement on Aug. 22. Pro-Science Dover Cares candidates declined to be interviewed to fill the temporary position and will focus on the November election.

Joseph Maldonado fills in all the details in the York Daily Record.
