Blue Valley Book Policy

Via the Wichita Eagle:
Officials from the Blue Valley school district explained how books are chosen for high school students. The district's process for choosing a book includes:

• Having a committee look at each book for language and context
• Providing a method for deciding whether a book is appropriate for a specific age group
• Sending a letter home to parents about which books students will read for the school year

Despite these safeguards, some board members were not impressed with the process.

For the wingnut majority on the board, a process isn't really a process until it's been subverted.
