Corkins: Set Out To Do Good, Ended Up Doing Well
Bob Corkins, the Michael Brown wannabe chosen as Kansas Education Commissioner, has made a career out of complaining that Kansas spends altogether too much on education. The fiscally conservative principles he staked out as a right-wing lobbyist, however, haven't prevented him from accepting an annual salary that is widely reported to be $140,000. That's $38,000 more than Gov. Sebelius is paid.
Corkins first decision as Education Commissioner was to request $15,000 from the board to hire a conservative consultant to teach him how to do his job.
No word yet on whether Connie Morris will train Corkins on the finer points of filling out expense reports.
